How to Set Link Bar Properties in FrontPage

Inserting a link bar into your Microsoft FrontPage website is great way to add a navigation system to your website. Once you have created your link bar, you may find that you need to change the properties of the link bar. Whether you want to change the style or the links to the link bar, FrontPage allows you to do this with a few simple clicks. Read on to learn how to set link bar properties in FrontPage.

Things You'll Need:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2003
  1. Step 1

    Start Microsoft FrontPage and open an existing website in which you have already created a link bar.

  2. Step 2

    Double-click on the link bar that you have already created to open the "Link Bar Properties" dialog box.

  3. Step 3

    Set which hyperlinks you would like to appear in your link bar by choosing to add links at the "Parent Level," "Same Level," "Back and Next," "Child Level," "Global Level" or "Child Pages Under Home" to your chosen page. You can also choose to add hyperlinks to the "Home Page" or "Parent Page."

  4. Step 4

    Click on the "Style" tab of the "Link Bar Properties" dialog box to set the style of your link bar.

  5. Step 5

    Scroll down in the "Choose a Style" section of the "Link Bar Properties" dialog box to choose a style you wish to apply to your link bar.

  6. Step 6

    Choose whether you want "Horizontal" or "Vertical" orientation and whether you want to "Use Vivid Colors" or "Use Active Graphics" under the "Orientation and Appearance" section of the "Link Bar Properties" dialog box.

  7. Step 7

    Click the "OK" button to close the "Link Bar Properties" dialog box and make the changes to the properties of your link bar.
