How to Make Lavender Perfume

Lavender has a beautiful and sweet fragrance. While many lavender perfumes are available in your local department store, they often come with fancy price tags and a number of synthetic aromas. You can make your own relaxing lavender perfume quickly and easily in your own kitchen. Making your own perfume is fun and economical, and you can experiment to create your own unique scent. Things You'll Need:

  • Distilled water
  • Vodka
  • Measuring cup with pour spout
  • Lavender essential oil
  • Chamomile essential oil
  • Valerian essential oil
  • Glycerin
  • Dark glass bottle with tight fitting lid
  1. Step 1

    Combine 2 cups of distilled water and 3 tbsp. of vodka in a measuring cup with a pour spout.

  2. Step 2

    Add 10 drops of lavender essential oil, eight drops of chamomile essential oil and eight drops of valerian essential oil to the measuring cup.

  3. Step 3

    Place four drops of glycerin to your perfume combination. Glycerin is a fixative that will help your perfume to retain its beautiful aroma.

  4. Step 4

    Stir the ingredients and test your lavender perfume. You may add more of any of the essential oils, one drop at a time, to perfect your own unique scent.

  5. Step 5

    Pour your lavender perfume carefully into a dark glass bottle with a tight fitting lid and shake. Allow your perfume to settle in a cool dark location for at least 12 hours before using.

  • Fragrance oils are often less expensive than essential oils and can be used instead. Be sure to test the fragrance oils before purchase, as quality may vary.
