Step 1
Choose an old pair of denim overalls. If they have holes, patch them.
-
Step 2
Start at one cuff. Cut the inseam open all the way past the crotch to the other cuff. Trim 1 inch of fabric off as you go.
-
Step 3
Turn the denim overalls wrong side out. Pin the front left leg and the front right leg together. Stitch in a ½-inch seam. Do the same for the back left leg and the back right leg.
-
Step 4
If the overalls have side openings, sew them shut. Sew the fly opening shut and sew the straps in place, if you want.
-
Step 5
Stitch a ½-inch seam across the bottom of the denim overalls. Stitch again. Trim the corners.
-
Step 6
Turn the denim overalls right side out. Pull the two corners out gently with a pin.
-
Step 7
Add trims to the laundry bag as you desire. You can place rickrack around the hem and waist. You can sew appliqué patches on the denim overalls to cover any stains or flaws. Try fabric paints if you are creative and like to draw free-hand designs. Use your imagination to make the laundry bag uniquely yours.
