1
Use your circular saw to cut four legs from the 1 by 6 inch board. You should cut four 13 inch long pieces. Each stand will have two legs positioned in a "V" pattern, so it is important that your measurements are exact. Use a Dremel lathe to smooth the edges if necessary.
-
2
Cut two 6 1/2 inch top pieces from the 1 by 6 inch board. The finished tops will be one by six by six and a half.

3
Make the base pieces of your speaker stands by cutting two 11 inch pieces from the 1 by 8 inch board. You should have two 11 by 1 by 8 inch bases when finished.
-
4
Make a pattern on the two base and two top pieces where you will position the legs. The legs of your speaker stands will be arranged in a "V" pattern, so use your carpenter's square to mark 45 degree angles from the corners. Draw two 6 inch lines along the 45 degree angles, centering them on the wood pieces in "V" shapes.
-
5
Drill holes along the 45 degree lines where you will screw in the legs. Place the holes 1 inch from each end of the 6 inch lines. Drill pilot holes in the leg pieces as well, 1 inch from each end.
-
6
Assemble your speaker stands with wood screws and sand the wood to a smooth finish. Your speaker stands are now ready for paint, stain or whatever finish you would like them to have.
