Hosting a pig roast can be a daunting activity. Delegate some of the tasks that you need done to other family members and friends so you're not overwhelmed. The following steps will show you what to do to host your own pig roast.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • People to invite
  • Pig farm
  • Pit or roaster
  • Pig roasting instructions and kit
  • Tables, chairs, plates and linens
  1. Step 1

Invite all your friends and neighbors well in advance so they can make plans to attend. Sending out invitations is the best way to do this, with a request for RSVPs by a certain date.

  2. Step 2

Decide what size pig you will need and how many side items and drinks to have for the amount of people you know are coming to your roast. Ask everyone to bring a side item to cut down on preparation time and money.

  3. Step 3

Make sure you have enough tables, chairs, plates and room for everyone that has indicted they will attend. If not, rent chairs and tables for your roast from a party rental store.

  4. Step 4

Order a pig prepped, fully-dressed and ready to roast from a farm or company that sells meat. Some companies even deliver to any state. With some companies, you can also order any accessories you need for roasting.

  5. Step 5

Purchase pig roast instructions online or order a tool kit which comes with everything you need to set up the pig roast.

  6. Step 6

Dig the pit for your roast or set concrete blocks around the area. You should need about 48 blocks to make a roasting area that is four blocks high, four long and two wide. Make sure there is no grass or debris at the bottom of the roaster.

  7. Step 7

Roast your pig as you normally would or as per the instructions with your tool kit. Make sure you start your roast in plenty of time for your guests to eat. It can take up to nine hours to cook depending upon the size of your pig.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also choose your own pig, clean it and dress it yourself.
  • Be sure you have plenty of food, snacks and drinks for everyone. The more the better.
  • Provide lots of games and activities for the kids so they don't get bored while waiting for their food.
