Decades ago a bettor only had three different types of wagers--Win, Place or Show. Modern racetrack management has expanded the exotic wagering menu to include trifectas, superfectas, pick six and beyond. To cash a superfecta ticket, the bettor needs to pick the first four finishers in the exact order. Read on to learn how to bet a superfecta.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Racing program
  • Money
  • Pair of binoculars for watching the races

Step1
Purchase a track program or a racing form at the track or an off-track simulcast facility.
Step2
Determine which races have the superfecta bet offered.
Step3
Read the racing form or track program and determine the horses likely to perform well.
Step4
Write down the finishing order of your horse selections.
Step5
Walk to a betting window with at least 10 minutes to post time, more if there are long lines.
Step6
Decide how much you want to bet.
Step7
Speak clearly to the ticket clerk. Always say the track name first followed by the race number, followed by the bet amount and followed by the word "superfecta." Say the number of the horses that will come in places one through four, saying the word "with" in between each one.
Step8
Provide ticket clerk with your money.
Step9
Examine your ticket for errors prior to leave the ticket counter no matter how long the line is behind you. Alert ticket clerk if there are any errors before walking away from the ticket counter.
Step10
Watch the race you bet on and wait until the results are official.
Step11
Go to ticket counter to cash your ticket if you're a winner.
