How to Bet a Daily Double
The daily double is a time-honored tradition at the racetrack. It involves selecting the winners of the first and second races, although some tracks do offer daily double bets on races throughout the day. Most modern racetracks provide the daily double on races throughout the race card. Read on to learn how to bet a daily double.

Decide what racetrack or simulcast facility you plan to visit.

Arrive at the track with plenty of time to buy your racing form or track program.

Look over the track program to determine which races you want to bet on.

Put a check mark next to horses you think have a good chance of winning.

Decide how much you plan to bet. Make sure it is within your budget.

Go to the racing window and place your bet. Make sure you say the name of the track, the race number and the bet amount followed by the word "Daily Double."

Keep your ticket in a safe place until after the race is over.

Cash your ticket if you're a winner.

Tips & Warnings
Daily doubles often pay out in the triple digits if a long shot wins.
You may get a refund if the horse you picked ends up scratching and not racing.
You won't receive a refund for lost tickets.
Throw away your losing ticket in the nearest track receptacle and not on the ground, even though you will probably see dozens of losing tickets littering the ground.
