How to Be a Flashy Man

You don't want to be just another guy in the pack. You want to be a mover of men, a captain of industry, a sultan of style; you want to be a flashy man. Well whether "bling" is your thing, or you "do all right wearing white," here are some tips on how you can be flashy and still remain fashionable.

1. Define who you are as an individual. Being flashy is going to be a little different for everyone. For instance, the flash that a rapper has is different to a business tycoon. Decide what your goals are and most importantly, what the image you want to emulate is. While you will certainly define it for yourself, having some sort of direction will help you get there.

2. Purchase clothing that makes you stand out like white wall tires on a Porsche. It doesn't necessarily have to be neon glow in the dark, but the colors should pop. Think a dark brown suit with a lavender vest or jacket. Think of going old school MC Hammer and wearing just a vest with no shirt under it if you have a ripped body. This is all about pushing the envelope within the context of the man you are trying to be. If you are a rapper, design your own clothes. Everyone else does.

3. Walk with an air of confidence. Being a flashy man is not about being introverted, internal or shy. It is about having a personality that is larger than life. Smile on your face and a swing in your step are two things to remember. Never hesitate to greet people, engage people in conversation. Being a flashy man (with style) is all about breaking down the little barriers many of us build up in society. While you should never say anything derogatory, saying something shocking will certainly help the flash. Not to mention a good sense of humor always goes a long way.

4. Add bling and make them sing. Let's face it, diamonds are everyone's best friend. And whether you're a rapper who wants to stuff a grill in your mouth or a CEO of a Fortune 500 hundred company who is wearing a diamond encrusted watch on his wrist, bling is the thing, so add it.

5. Create the appearance of money. If you have it, great, but if you don't, a few tricks of the trade will help you out. Lease the nicest car you can afford. Spend your money on a few hot pieces of jewelry and only carry $100 bills. Being flashy is all about being remembered. And we remember everyone in this society who has money. Trump, Buffet, Gates; all household names because they are flashy.

6. Fire off your opinion even when not asked. Being flashy doesn't mean you are relegated to being nice. If someone is offering a conflicting point of view, don't cower and shrink the way many people do to avoid that confrontation. Speak up for yourself and what you believe in. If nothing else, you'll make the monotony of everyone else's day who's watching a bit more interesting.
