Step 1
Set up an appointment with your law school's career services center before graduation. Make an appointment to speak with a career specialist or alumni who can point you in the direction of interested firms.

Begin networking in order to build connections for when you graduate law school. Develop a rapport with professors and other professionals so you can have at least two to three interviews set up post graduation.

Ensure that you are in the top 30 percentile of your graduating class if you are seeking a job in the private sector, journal work is also recommended. Develop plenty of mock trial experience and a have at least one internship under your belt to increase your chances for a better job.

Consider working in the government sector if you don't mind making less money straight out of law school. Bear in mind that you can gain valuable experience in government agencies, and it will help ready you for the private sector or your own practice.

Step 5
Team up with a career services representative or send your resumes to large local corporations that are looking for in house counselors. Build your resume in the same manner you would for private sector. Be proactive and follow up after you apply.
