Plymouth State University was founded in 1871 and has grown from just a teacher's college all the way to a full-service university. Sprawling over 170 acres with more than 40 buildings they have 4,200 undergraduate students and 2,600 graduate students. If you love New Hampshire and the charm of New England, then you should check out the Plymouth State University campus. Read on to learn how to tour Plymouth State University.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Check out the Plymouth State University website which is the official site of the university. That is where your tour of the campus begins. You can learn about their graduate and undergraduate courses, athletics, student life, events around on campus and even their seriously impressive library.
Step2
Click on "Admission and Aid" tab, which is located on the top of the main page. Not only will you see their slogan "Give us your best and we will give you ours" but you'll also be able to get a schedule of their Fall tours which begin in September each year. It is imperative that you make a reservation as tours fill up fast for this popular New Hampshire school.
Step3
Arrange travel for your trip to Plymouth State University. After clicking on the "Directions" tab, which is located under "Visitor Information" on their site, you can find directions from a myriad of New England locations. When it comes to traveling by air, they recommend flying to Boston's Logan airport or New Hampshire's regional airport in Manchester. If traveling to Boston, the popular and always reliable Concord Trailways runs a bus that stops right outside campus. Tickets and schedule information is available on the Concord Trailways website. See the Resources section below for a link.
Step4
Book hotel accommodations for your trip. New Hampshire has a New England charm that has not been infiltrated by the big hotel chains of America. While the chains are certainly there, you will do yourself a disservice by not staying in the "mom and pop shops." Check out the BBOnline website for more information on hotels in and around Plymouth.
Step5
Tour the campus and enjoy your day. Remember, as much as the college is interviewing you with your SAT scores and grades, you are interviewing them to see if they are the right fit for you. Make a list of questions you have about the school and make sure you get all the answers. If you don't, be sure to ask them before you leave campus.

Tips & Warnings

  • Go with a friend to the tour. It's a great way to split travel costs and have a dialog about the campus you visited.
  • Visit several schools on the same weekend. With just a little planning you can set-up several schools in the same area and compare and contrast the colleges you visit.
