Veritas CommandCentral Storage will improve the performance and manageability of your heterogeneous storage environment. This software can identify performance lags that occur anywhere on your disk storage array. In addition, CommandCentral Storage could identify wasted disk space to improve the utilization capacity of your disk array. It also provides the convenience of using a single console to provide all configuration administration throughout the entire disk array. Read on to learn how to use Veritas CommandCentral Storage.

1. Identify the disk array that will be installed under Veritas CommandCentral Storage.
2. Install the Veritas CommandCentral Storage software. The compatible operating systems are HP-UX, Solaris, IBM-AIX, Linux and Windows operating systems. You may install the product by running the CommandCentral Storage installation script, or using the native operating system package add commands. Reference the CommandCentral Storage installation guide for the appropriate commands for your operating system.
3. Verify that you have a valid software license. Execute the vxlicrep command to show the current state of your license.
4. Configure the Veritas CommandCentral Storage for your disk array. This is accomplished using the graphical user interface call "the Console". To connect to the console, open a web browser and point to the following url: https://HostName:8443/cc
5. Open the topology tab inside the console. This can be accomplished by clicking on the "Console" topology tab. This will graphically display all objects in the network and their connections.
6. Manage the store resources in the console. Click on any object in the topology map and use the drop-down list to perform any necessary operation on that object.
7. Run performance reports on your disk array. This is accomplished by clicking on the "Reporting" tab inside the console. There are plenty of "out of the box" storage reports supplied by CommandCentral Storage. In addition, you may create your own specific reports.
