Instructions

    • 1

Pre-wash the fabric. Dry it without any fabric sheets in the dryer.

    • 2

Cut the quilt blocks into squares. Iron each block to a matching size square of freezer paper. This stabilizes the fabric so you can color it more easily.

    • 3

Choose a pattern for the quilt block. Pick something that is fairly simple.

    • 4

Trace a pattern onto the quilt square. Use a dark-colored Crayola crayon. Press as hard as you can without breaking the crayon. Use a firm surface with good light so you can see the pattern as you trace it.

    • 5

Fill in the pattern with whatever color Crayolas you wish to use. Press as firmly as possible as you color.

    • 6

Lay newspaper on your ironing board to protect it. Place the colored fabric square face up on the ironing board and cover it with a white paper towel.

    • 7

Heat the steam iron to medium or wool setting. Press the paper towel-covered fabric until the paper towel absorbs the wax. You may or may not see color on the paper towel. Change paper towels as necessary until there is no more wax on the fabric. Remove the freezer paper.

    • 8

Repeat Steps 2 through 7 until you have all the quilt blocks you need to make your quilt. Piece the squares together. Layer the quilt top, batting and quilt bottom together and quilt together. Finish the edges of your Crayola quilt.
