How to Find XP Features in Vista
Windows XP has been on the market for a long time, and many of the features are second nature to users. In making the migration from XP to Vista, you can find yourself wanting to perform a task or function but having no idea how to find it. Read on to learn more.

1
Think about some of the Windows XP features you used the most. The Explore right click on the Start button, Open File function and Find Programs features operate differently in Vista.
-
2
Start with Explore. Right click on the "Start" icon on the bottom left of the screen and click on "Explore." So far, this is still the same from XP to Vista. Notice, though, that at the top of the left-hand column there is instant access to Documents, Pictures, Music and a place to click for "More."

3
Try to find an installed program. This is different in Vista compared to XP. Left click on the Start button and look just above the "Start Search" line. You see "All Programs." Hover the mouse over this line and programs appear in a list, rather than spreading across the screen as they did in XP.
-
4
Test drive the Office suite. The top toolbar no longer has the Print, Save, New and Open tasks readily available. Get used to clicking on the multi-colored icon in the top lefthand corner to find all these tasks.
-
5
Give up on some of the XP features because they didn't make it to Vista. For instance, Windows Meeting Space replaces Net Meeting.
-
6
Examine the Control Panel. While everything is still there and organized in much the same way (it looks different though), the Program Uninstall feature is found in small letters on the lefthand colored margin.

Tips & Warnings
The right-click function in Vista has more features than in XP and often these are what you are looking for. Always try the right click in any program.
Take the tutorials. Because Vista is so different from XP, the migration may not be as intuitive for you as moving through older Windows versions.
