Vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to tighten vaginal muscles and tissues that may have become stretched during childbirth. Most women decide to do a vaginoplasty to enhance sexual pleasure for them and their partners. If you're interested in a vaginoplasty you may be wondering how to find a doctor. However, not many doctors do vaginoplasties, so you may have to hunt to find a doctor in your area. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Talk to your ob/gyn. Your ob/gyn can let you know if they think the surgery would be helpful and if you're even eligible for it. Don't be shy about letting them know about why you want it.

  2. Step 2

Ask for a recommendation to a plastic surgeon that performs vaginoplasties in your area from your ob/gyn or your care provider. You can also go online to sites that list plastic surgeons that perform vaginoplasties such as CosmeticSurgery.com and PlasticSurgery.com.

  3. Step 3

Interview a couple of doctors to find one that you like. You should be comfortable with the doctor performing the surgery. If you have any concerns, don't allow the doctor to perform the vaginoplasty. Ask to speak to previous patients, and ask for their statistics of complications from the procedure.

  4. Step 4

Understand that your insurance company may not pay for the procedure. Most insurance companies consider a vaginoplasty to be a cosmetic procedure, and because it's not necessary, they won't pay for it.
