How to Make a No-Sew Princess Costume

Costumes are fun to select for both children and adults. Sometimes people want to design and make their own costumes. Making a no-sew princess costume is a good idea for those who are not handy with a needle and thread. The no-sew costume will look just as splendid as a store bought or sewn costume.

Things You'll Need

• 3 to 4 yards of tulle
• Tiara
• Blouse or leotard
• Elastic headband
• Ballet shoes
• Sparkles
• Scissors

Instructions

1. Purchase three or four yards of tulle to create your no sew princess costume. You will want to think about if you want your princess costume to be one color, two colors or more. To create a princess look, consider using pastel colors such as soft pink, blue or yellow.

2. Buy a princess tiara at your local dollar or crafts store.

3. Find a skinny elastic headband to make the waistband of the new sew princess tutu for the costume.

4. Cut the tulle into strips that are just about 3-inches thick. You will want the strips to be just about 3 feet in length to create the no sew princess costume for a young girl.

5. Begin cutting the strips and knot the strips around the elastic headband. To do this, you will want to place the 2-foot length strip around the elastic headband so that it is halved. Begin to tie the tulle so that the knot around the headband creates 2 floating pieces of the no sew tutu. Repeat this until the strips are all around the elastic headband. The tutu should be full and flowing.

6. Put a dressy top on to complement the no sew tutu. The dressy top should look like a princess shirt. You may consider using a dance leotard.

7. Dress up the young girl in her princess top, no sew tutu and princess tiara. She will look like the loveliest princess at the ball.

8. Accessorize the no sew costume with simple tights, ballet shoes and sparkles on the face to create a princess look.
