February 14th is a day of love. Teach kids the meaning of love by having a Valentine's Day party. You can show them how to be kind and thoughtful while enjoying the festivities of a party. Follow these tips to throw a Valentine's party for a grade school class.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Decorations
  • Valentine's Day cards
  • Snacks
  • Movie and music
  1. Step 1

Have children write Valentine's cards for each other. Make sure that they write a card for every child. Send a list home with all the children's first names on so no one is forgotten.

  2. Step 2

Prepare food for the party or have children bring in snacks. Include candy hearts with happy messages or heart shaped cookies. Invite parents to send healthy snacks so that the kids aren't loaded up on sugar. Or make vegetables and dip for the class to go along with the junk food.

  3. Step 3

Find a Valentine movie to watch with your class. Or play Valentine's Day music during the party.

  4. Step 4

Make decorations ahead of time. Have each child cut out hearts and decorate the classroom in red, white and pink.

  5. Step 5

Create large Valentine bags or envelopes together. At the party, children can go around the room and drop a Valentine card in each bag. This fun activity keeps the cards organized and provides a way for the children to carry their cards home.

  6. Step 6

Have each child write a secret Valentine to another child in the class. They will have to say something nice about the person but they can't put their name on the card. Get the children to draw names so no one is left out.

  7. Step 7

Play Valentine's Day games like guess the number of candies in a jar or Valentine's Bingo. Have a scavenger hunt. Children can search the class for missing hearts.

  8. Step 8

Make a Valentine's Day craft or a card for someone at home. The children can make the craft while listening to music and then take the craft home for a loved one.
