Step 1
Practice in front of a mirror. Open your mouth wide and watch yourself as you make weird, forced laughing sounds. Doing this will get you laughing at yourself, and you can see what a real laugh looks like. Keep doing it until you can bypass the fake part and laugh like a maniac on command.
-
Step 2
Keep a reserve of great jokes on the tip of you tongue so you can tell them to yourself when you need to laugh out loud. Or remember a really silly thing you did. Pull up that memory when you are in a live situation that calls for a laugh.
-
Step 3
Watch other people in the situation. Even if you don't think your boss' live joke was funny, you can have the last laugh by laughing at the people laughing at the stupid joke. Catch the mood from them and let it rip.
-
Step 4
Monitor your attitude. If you go through life with a negative spin on everything, then you might need a huge Seinfeld joke to get your guffaws working. If you tread lightly through life, you'll have in a much better spirit to turn on the laugh ducts when you need to.
