How to Set up a Playstation 3

PlayStation 3 is one of the hottest video game systems on the market. With eye-popping graphics and multi-player online capability, it's a hit with all hardcore gamers. To get the full enjoyment from your PlayStation 3, it has to be set up properly. This can be done in a few easy steps.

Instructions

1. Hook up your PlayStation 3 to a television. You must decide whether your TV supports high definitions (HD) resolution or not. For HD resolution, you must use a HDMI cable or a component video cable. These cables also support standard definition (SD) resolution. If you only have an SD television, you can use an S-video cable or an AV cable. These two can't support HD resolution

2. Connect the PlayStation 3 to any audio equipment such as a A/V receiver or home entertainment system. Connect using a digital audio cable or, alternatively, run an HDMI cable to your A/V receiver then another HDMI cable to the television set.

3. Plug in the Ethernet cable, then connect the other end to a 10Base T jack from your home network. This connects you to the Internet and the world of online gaming.

4. Attach the AC power cord to the PlayStation 3, and then plug it into a surge protected wall outlet. Don't plug in the power cord until all other connections have been made as a chance of shock exists.

5. Perform the initial set up of the system. Turn on the power of the TV and game console, and follow the on-screen prompts. The pre-installed software guides you through the set up process.

on 11/27/2008 I have an older model T.V. Video connections are in the back. I also have DVD player hooked up to TV through Receiver. I following the directions exactly by hooking the the standard video connections to the back of my T.V. I get audio and picture but no color. What am I doing wrong?
