1
Join an Internet, country-specific, post-adoption group. If your child came from another part of the world, there are online groups of parents ready to offer support and share the daily trials and joys with you. Being a part of a culturally correct community can help you foster your child's sense of ethnic awareness while helping you understand and deal with his specific needs.
-
2
Locate resources for adoptive parents of special needs children with the Special Needs Adoptive Parents network known as SNAP. This network maintains a library of educational materials and services for parents of special needs children. (See Resources).

Organize a monthly play date for adoptive children. Ask your local newspaper to do a story on your idea. Have them interview you while you state your intentions. Be sure to list a phone number where other adoptive parents can contact you to sign up.
