Users of Eudora can configure the settings for header lines displayed in their emails. This can be done by editing the EUDORA.INI file, where Eudora keeps most of the settings. The INI file is a standard Windows file. You can edit it with any text editor. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Close the Eudora program, if you are using it and locate the EUDORA.INI file on your computer. The default location is in the mail directory.

  2. Step 2

Open up EUDORA.INI with a text editor such as notepad. Go to the TabooHeaders option under Settings.

  3. Step 3

Consider the following default list of headers that will not be shown when the BLAH BLAH BLAH switch is off: X-UID, Received, Status, X-UIDL, Message, In-Reply, X-Priority, Mime-Version, Content-, X-Persona, Resent-Message, References, Return, X400, X-400, Mail-System, Errors-To, X-List, Delivery, Disposition, X-Juno, Precedence, X-Attachments, X-MSMail, X-MimeOLE.

  4. Step 4

Add headers you wish. If you add any item, be aware that any header beginning with that prefix will not be shown. For example, adding X- to the list will hide all headers beginning with X-. On the other hand, adding X-Juno will hide only headers beginning with the prefix X-Juno.

  5. Step 5

Delete headers as you wish. Be aware that deleting any items from the default list means that that header will show up in future emails.

  6. Step 6

Save the document and close notepad or whatever text editor being used.

  7. Step 7

Restart Eudora for the changes to take effect.

Tips & Warnings
  • Windows caches information from the INI files in memory while Eudora is running. Don't change the EUDORA.INI file while using Eudora.
