Sisterlocks is a type of locking system for hair which is primarily intended for women with highly textured hair. Locks are made but hair extensions are not used. Different locking techniques are used depending on the texture of a woman's hair. The hair can still be curled or styled in various ways. The Sisterlocks system is trademarked and the company certifies the consultants to ensure they do the locking properly. A Sisterlocks consultant does not have to be a licensed cosmetologist. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Contact the Sisterlocks headquarters. They have information on their website about the company's history and a section to answer common questions associated with the locking system. An information packet for potential consultants can be downloaded.
Step2
Attend a Sisterlocks training class. The classes are usually held over a four day period. They are offered in various locations across the United States. The Sisterlocks website provides dates for classes. The classes are taught by experienced master Sisterlocks instructors and the class size is limited to twenty students to allow for individual attention.
Step3
Find three people to do the Sisterlocks on. Documentation that you completed the Sisterlocks will need to be provided. You will need a before and after photo of the client as well as a questioner the clients fills out. All information will need to be sent to the Sisterlocks headquarters
Step4
Be sure you are listed on the Sisterlocks website as an active certified Sisterlocks consultant. Women who are interested in getting Sisterlocks done will look for a certified consultant in their area on the Sisterlocks website.
Step5
Advertise. Decide if you are willing to travel to a clients home to do the Sisterlocks or are setting up a shop. Call local cosmetologists to determine if you can offer your services at their shop. Consider other ways to market the Sisterlocks system such as developing a website or joining local business associations.
Step6
Consider keeping a portfolio of before and after photos to show potential clients. Ask satisfied customers to write a brief testimonial regarding the locking system. Photos and testimonials can also be put up on a website to attract clients.
