1
Go to Limewire.com. Download the Limewire file sharing software if you don't already have it.
-
2
Examine the user screen and become familiar with the functions. Select "Search" and the kind of file you are looking for. If you don't know what type of file you're looking for, select "All Type."
-
-
3
Receive a search ranking of the hosts who have the file you're looking for. The hosts are ranked according to your chances of receiving a successful download from them. They're rated from one to four stars.
-
4
Consider whether you have questions about a file or files you're interested in downloading from the host. You may need to verify it's exactly what you're looking for.
-
5
Select the "Browse Host" button if you'd like to ask a question or "chat" with the host. It's a small grey box located in the bottom middle of your screen. The "Browse Host" button also allows you to browse all of the files available from that host.
-
6
Choose the browse result you're interested in and right-click it. You will see a list of options, then select "Chat with Host." This option should only be available if the host is available for chatting, but keep in mind that many people have their computers set for download while they're away. If you don't receive an immediate reply, try back again later.
-
7
Connect directly with a friend by selecting "Direct Connect" and entering their IP address. This option won't work if either of you have a firewall enabled.
