How to Make a Cupcake Cake

Are you looking for a unique cake to make for a birthday? Well, look no further than this easy cupcake cake. This is the best of both worlds, cupcakes which are self-contained cakes in the shape of a cake. You will satisfy even the harshest cake critics and thrill all who see this delicious creation.

Things You'll Need

• 2 boxes moist butter cake mix
• 1 1/2 tsp. of marshmallow flavoring
• 4 containers of white butter cream frosting
• 6 tsp. of marshmallow frosting
• Food coloring
• Plastic sandwich bags

Instructions

1. Using the directions that are on the cake boxes make two round cakes.

2. Follow the directions on the box mix to make as many cupcakes as you desire.

3. Cool the cakes and cupcakes completely before you begin to assemble your cake.

4. Use 1/2 cup of butter cream frosting to sandwich round cakes together. Flatten the top layer, then cover the top and the sides with the remaining butter cream frosting.

5. Put the cake in the refrigerator and let it chill for 1 to 2 hours.

6. Take the remaining 2 pints of butter cream frosting and put it into four different bowls. Add a teaspoon and a half of marshmallow flavoring to each of the frosting bowls. Add different food colorings into each of the frosting bowls.

7. Pour the different colored frosting into four small sandwich bags with about 1/2 cup of each color. Use scissors and cut a small slit on one side of the bottom of each bag and lightly pipe varying sizes of dots on the layer cake.

8. Frost the cupcakes with the remaining colored butter cream frosting.

9. Stack the frosted cupcakes in a three-level pyramid on top of the cake to begin the layers of the cupcake cake.

10. Continue to build the pyramid by adding seven cupcakes to the bottom layer, three to the middle layer and one cupcake on top.
