How to Know the Rules of Croquet
Croquet is a bygone game of the past played at neighborhood parties. The game itself is not played very often today, but seeing it played in movies and television shows has sparked a renewed interest. If you have an old set in the garage or basement, brush it off, grab some friends or family and try playing a round.

1
Set up the playing court. The court should be 100 feet by 50 feet.
-
2
Position the wickets or stakes firmly in the ground in a double diamond, figure eight shape.
-
-
3
Decide how many players will be playing. If you have 2 to 4 players playing the game then you will need 4 balls. If you have 6 players playing croquet then you need to have 6 balls in play.
-
4
Play the game with 2 teams. Each team will have different colored balls that they will be playing with.
-
5
Play begins by tossing a coin to see which team goes first.
-
6
Strike the ball with the mallet head, not the side. Move through the course striking the balls and pushing them through the wickets.
-
7
Begin at the base or bottom of the figure eight. Move around the course in a counter clockwise direction through the diamonds. Be sure to hit the stake at the top of the figure eight and then continue play moving back through the remaining wickets.

Turns end when there are no more bonus shots to be made. A bonus shot comes into play when the striker scores a wicket or stake or when they hit another ball.
