Things You'll Need:
- Flowers and greenery
- Floral tape
- Florist's wire
- Wire clippers
- Pin
- Wide elastic
- Needle
- Thread
-
Step 1
Talk to your date about color or flower preferences. Ask if they have an ideal size, would like a wrist band or a boutonnière style corsage. Measure your date's wrist if necessary. Get some ideas from your date, but keep the final outcome a surprise.
-
Step 2
Purchase floral tape, wire, pin or elastic. Buy extra to ensure that you have enough if you make mistakes. Pick out flowers that compliment your date's ensemble. Ask the florist for suggestions in choosing flowers. Choose some greenery or filler to pump up the corsage.
-
Step 3
Assemble the corsage no more than the day before Homecoming. Keep the corsage in the refrigerator in a plastic container until you are ready to go.
-
Step 4
Try different arrangements until you come up with one you like best. Take a picture of it to use as a guide.
-
Step 5
Connect the flowers using florist's wire. Poke the wire through the flower at the widest part below the petals. Wrap floral tape around the stems and wire. Pull the tape taut without breaking it and wrap in a diagonal motion so you cover the entire stem. Break the tape at the end of the corsage.
-
Step 6
Twist the end of the corsage so it looks like a corkscrew. This is a classic element of corsages. Use a pin to attach to your date's dress or tuxedo.
-
Step 7
Sew the piece of wide elastic to create a circle a little smaller than your date's wrist. Attach the corsage by sewing the underside of it to the elastic.
