How to Wash Dishes
Washing dishes is one of those household chores that everyone has to do sometime in their lives, especially if you do not have a dishwasher. Even if you have a dishwasher, there is always something that will not fit or that cannot be placed in the dishwasher. Read on to find out how to wash dishes correctly and enjoy the results. Turn on the water as hot as you can take it. Make the water as hot as you can for better sanitizing power. Stop up the drain so that you make a pool of water to use to wash your dishes.

Squirt a small amount of dish soap into the hot water or directly onto the dishes.

Get out a clean sponge and wet it.

Choose the dish that is the least dirty to begin cleaning. It will help keep the water clean as you wash the dishes. Glasses are the best dishes to start with.

Scrape off as much food as possible before you put the dish in the water.

Soap up the dish and scrub at it vigorously with the sponge to get it clean quickly.

Rinse with warm water.

Put the dish on a drying rack to dry, or enlist a friend to help you dry them with a clean soft towel.

Repeat Steps 5 through 8 with the remaining dishes until all of the dishes are clean, dry and put away.

I would add that cutlery and drinking vessels need the most sanitizing and should be washed first (in that order). Also...do not overlook washing the "handles" of all items, as they are powerful breeding grounds for bacteria. -
