Step 1
Research the company before you even step in the door for the interview. You need to know the history of the business, as well as the scope of the consumer service and/or products that are offered. Also try to remember some key management and executive names that your research turned up.
-
Step 2
Know and understand the scope of the particular position you are interviewing for. You do not focus on your great sales skills if this position is more concerned with creative abilities. Keep the focus on your job-related skills.
-
Step 3
Show up early for interview, dressed in a suit or business attire. Even if the job is inside with a group of artists drawing branding mock-ups for the marketing division, you can always dress down when you have the position. Wearing a suit indicates respect for the interviewer.
-
Step 4
Bring up your other skills that could be useful to the company in the future. You should mention these skills, such as speaking another language or your sales abilities, near the end of the interview when asked if there is anything you can add.
-
Step 5
Express your knowledge of the company and the industry by talking about your career goals and how you look forward to growing with the company. Show off your knowledge of this company's consumer products with enthusiasm.
