Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Paper
- Pencil/pen
- Calculator
Step1
Take care of the problems in the parenthesis working from left to right first. (8 - 6) = 2 Your new number here is 2.
Draw your problem the same way except for this part, a 2 will be in place of the parenthesis problem.
Step2
Take care of Exponents from left to right. 4 to the 3rd power.
4 x 4= 24 x 4 = 64
and
2 to the 4th power looks like this:
2 x 4= so 8 x 2= 16 So write the same problem again with these changes in place of the the exponents as well as the parenthesis changes.
Step3
Take care of the Multiplication/Division problems from left to right which ever comes first since they both have equal priority.
18 divided by 3 = 6
3 x 2 = 6
Rewrite the problem and make these changes as well . Your problem should be looking like this so far: 64 + 6 - 16 - 6 =
Step4
Take care of any addition from left to right.
64 + 6 = 70
Rewrite the problem with new changes.
Step5
Take care of any Subtraction from left to right.
70 - 16 = 54
so
54 - 6 = 48
Total answer = 48
