How to Make a Coach Class Flight Comfortable

Make a Coach Class Flight Comfortable

With a little forethought, you too can enjoy the best of what Coach class offers.

From Quick Guide: Flight Manual
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Airline ticket for coach class flight
  • Drivers license, passport or other ID
  1. Step 1

Do some work upfront. Get detailed seating charts on line and select the best section for you.

  2. Step 2

Select the front of the cabin. Generally, the front of the cabin is best. You get served first and you exit earlier than the back of the plane.

  3. Step 3

Try to be seated in an exit aisle. It has the most leg room in Coach.

  4. Step 4

Avoid being seated near the wing. It will spoil your view and often has accompanying engine noise.

Tips & Warnings
  • My seat preference is aisle. For long flights window seats are better for sleeping. I avoid middle seats at all costs.
  • If you have long legs, you might be frustrated by bulkhead seats.
  • Beware of the row of seats in front of the exit aisle; they generally cannot lean back.
  • Know where the restrooms are in relation to your seat selection. You don't want to be too close. The nearby aisles generally have lines of people waiting.
