Cell phones have become a way of life for most people. Business people and teenagers can't seem to get along without a good cell phone. In fact, most people carry a cell phone constantly. It's best to shop around to get a good price on a cell phone.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Shop around for the actual price of just the cell phone itself first, instead of a package deal. Often, when you go to buy a new cell phone, the company you buy from has a package that includes the cell phone and a contract for providing service. Be sure to read the fine print in the contract. Most are for a 2 to 3 year time period. If you break the contract, there's usually a hefty penalty fee.

  2. Step 2

Get a good price on a cell phone by waiting on the new style to come out. When the new style hits the market, buy the older version that the new one replaced. The older version is still stylish and modern, but you've saved a good deal of money by not jumping on the bandwagon to get the first of the newest.

  3. Step 3

Search online auctions for cell phones. You can often get a good price on a new or used cell phone. Make sure that when you buy a second-hand one, though, that the cell phone is guaranteed to work and that it comes with a charger.

  4. Step 4

Call your cell phone service provider before you buy a used cell phone or one that is a different model from what you currently have. Tell your provider what brand model you are about to buy and ask if that model will be compatible and work with your current service. You might find a really good price on a used phone, but if it doesn't work with your service, you have wasted your money.
