Massages are wonderful ways to release stress and tension. Giving a massage is a great way to show affection and relieve a build-up of tension. Next time your mate has had a long day and has aches and pains, try giving a deep therapeutic massage. Follow these steps to give a deep therapeutic massage.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy essential oil. Aromatherapy has been used for centuries. Some believe that is dates back to the Egyptians. A large part of aromatherapy is the use of essential oils such as peppermint, sandalwood, chamomile, lavender, and eucalyptus. Use one oil or a blend that will work for your mate's needs.

  2. Step 2

Prepare a massage area. It is best to have a firm place to give your massage. Use a folding table designed for massages, the floor or a firm bed. The area you prepare must be comfortable. Use scented candles to set a therapeutic mood for your mate.

  3. Step 3

Meditate in a quite place and clear your thoughts. In order to give a good massage you must be in the right frame of mind. Quiet your mind as you take deep cleansing breaths.

  4. Step 4

Stretch your body. Preparing your body to give a deep therapeutic massage is essential--your body should be limber and ready to give a massage.

  5. Step 5

Feel the entire body for tension and areas that are tight. Trust your intuition as you glide your hands over your mate.

  6. Step 6

Massage your mate starting at the top and working your way down. Use your fingers to firmly apply pressure to the troubled areas on your mate's body. Work out any knots with your fingers and the palms of your hands.

Tips & Warnings
  • Before using any essential oil on your mate apply a small amount on a test area to check for any possible skin irritations.
  • Never put pure essential oil directly on your skin. Dilute any pure essential oils that you've purchased.
