Finding a swimming suit that fits properly can be a challenge for anyone. Because there's more information and resources out there for women, it can be frustrating for men, particularly if you don't know what to look for. However, finding the correct size for men only requires a few simple steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Identify the style you want. This is important because the way you measure might be a little different if you are going to buy a Speedo than it would be if you were going to buy a board short.

  2. Step 2

Take your measurements. Find your natural waist line by bending to one side, then measure about an inch below, or just above your hip bone.

  3. Step 3

Purchase by waist size if you want to purchase a Lycra suit, like a brief or a jammer. Sizes for these type of suits run much like men's pants. They usually come in even number sizes like 28, 30 and 32.

  4. Step 4

Read the label. If you want to buy a pair of trunks or board shorts, the sizes usually run in small, medium or large sizes. A quick glance a the label tells you which waist measurement falls under which size.

  5. Step 5

Take a look at the length. If you're fairly average size, then this might not be an issue. But if you have particularly long or short legs, you might need to shop around for a suitable inseam length or make the proper alterations before getting wet.
