1
Decide how and where the ventilation is going to come out of your house. Purchase the ventilation system at your local home store. Purchase any items not included in the kit. The ventilation system box should have this information. Also, know how much ductwork you need to purchase.

2
Install the stove vent or the bathroom fan inside. Follow the manufacturer's directions.

3
Mark where the vent goes through the interior wall by drilling four small holes between studs. This marks on the exterior wall where you wish to install the vent. Cut the vent hole in the interior wall with a reciprocating saw.
-
4
Go outside and cut the exterior siding away between the four holes you made with the drill. Use the reciprocating saw for this as well.
-
5
Use a masonry drill in Step 3 to mark the spot where the vent goes, if you're exterior is brick. Make a series of holes in a line with the masonry drill bit to finish making the hole in the exterior wall.
-
6
Put the ductwork and the exterior wall cap together. Slide them into place on the exterior wall. Screw in place. If your exterior is masonry, use screw anchors.
-
7
Caulk around the wall cap. This keeps moisture out of your walls.
-
8
Finish connecting the ductwork inside. Make sure everything is working properly as you complete this project.
