On a cold winter night, there's nothing better than snuggling in a warm bed. One very simple method of having that bed warm and inviting is the use of an electric blanket. Electric blankets began to evolve to public use in the 1920s when they were used to cover TB patients who were required to sleep in the fresh air.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Plug in the electric blanket. Most of the newer models have long cords to allow you to use them in any situation.
Step2
Use a blankets or sheets both under and over the electric blanket for the most comfortable heat.
Step3
Preset the electric blanket to warm your bed. Nothing is better than jumping into a bed that has been already warmed. Turn it onto automatic preheat and you'll be warm on a cold night.
Step4
Adjust your side of the bed. If you like it warm and your partner doesn't, duel controls allow you each to have it your way. Usually these are available only on king and queen sizes.
Step5
Remain worry free if you forgot to shut off the blanket. The new electric blankets have automatic shut offs after 10 hours.
Step6
Turn down your furnace and use less energy. Keeping your bed warm with a low voltage blanket allows you a great deal of savings on the heat at night. Just set the dial and go to sleep.
Step7
Wash you electric blanket in the washing machine. Newer electric blankets are machine washable and have been tested thoroughly for safety.
