Step 1
Go to an online Bible search tool. There are some good ones out there such as Bible Gateway and Blue Letter Bible. You want one that will allow you to search for the verse in different text versions of the Bible.
-
Step 2
Type in a word or words that you can remember in the verse you are searching for in the search tool. Make sure you have the correct text version selected as there are many versions of the Bible published and some of them are vastly different.
-
Step 3
Click "Search" to find your Bible verse. This will bring up verses that have the word or words in them.
-
Step 4
Look through the list of verses and choose from among them to find the correct one you are looking for.
-
Step 5
Turn to the back of your Bible if you have a concordance and look up the word that way if you don't have access to a computer.
-
Step 6
Purchase a separate concordance such as Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible at any Christian bookstores. Look up the word you are searching in the alphabetical list in the book.
-
Step 1
Use the topical search tools on the online Bible search website. Type in the keyword and the version you wish to search in. Look through the verses that come up to find the one you are looking for.
-
Step 2
Purchase a Topical Bible, such as Nave's Topical Bible, which you can purchase at any Christian bookstore. A Topical Bible is a book with topics in the Bible listed alphabetically. Each topic listed will give you the Bible verses that you can then research.
-
Step 3
Look at the back of your Bible if you have a topical concordance. Some study Bible's have a limited number of items listed by topic.
