How to Plan a Group Cruise
The club decides to organize a group cruise. Sounds like fun, however, setting sail requires coordination and planning. Organizing ticket prices, travel dates and on-shore activities are all important considerations. Take care of all the necessary preparation in advance and enjoy a great group cruise.

Appoint a cruise leader to get the details and keep everyone informed. List the names and number of people planning to attend the cruise. Use this initial count to negotiate a package deal with travel agent.

Contact a travel agent that specializes in group cruises. Gather information, advice and ideas. Listen carefully to cruise package options and take notes. Negotiate cruise detail, such as where the cabins are located and perks for the group.

Present the cruise package to your group. Keep the group informed and make sure they know about cruise deposits, destination, length of cruise and due date for final payments.

Involve everyone in planning the fun on and off the ship. Create an itinerary after discussion. Advertise your plans in group newsletters and on the website. If not applicable, create a flyer and circulate it to each member of your group.

Collect and pay deposits on time. Buy travel insurance. There are penalties for not having it at least 70 days prior to departure. Encourage members to buy their policies early.

Get the best deal in fall and early winter; great deals are available in May and June too. Larger groups get better rates and perks.
When payments are late the cruise lines release group rate cabins back to available status. Ask members to pay deposits on time to avoid the difficulty experienced when you have to replace cabins that aren't resold.
