Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Buy the latest version of Corel DESIGNER at your nearest software store. Make sure that your system is operating on any Windows program between 2000 and Vista. Be sure you do have all of the updates and service packs installed. You need at least a Pentium III computer and high-resolution screen. The hard disk should be able to hold at least 1 GB as graphics packages really need room to work.
Step2
Turn off all other programs before installing Corel DESIGNER. Install the User Guides and download Adobe Reader to be able to access them as you need. Start thinking of what graphic possibilities you want to work on.
Step3
Use the tutorial to customize the program as you need. Because of the size of the program, you will sometimes need to restore the workspace to what it once was. Hold down F8 and start the application to do this. Open a new document by pressing Control + "N." Now choose "Tools," then "Workplace." From here, you can see what the workspace choices are.
Step4
Name the workspace. You can save several personalized workspace formats. You will need to determine which workspace you want to use or make a new one with every project.
Step5
Get the framework right. Select the drawing toolbar. Draw your design using lines, arcs or anything else that depicts the image you are working on. More flexible than AutoCad, Corel supports import/export filters that not only include AutoCad, but PDF and Macromedia Flash SWF also.
Step6
Customize the toolbars with the instructions in the tutorial. Copy and move whatever commands you want. Using your mouse, you can move buttons and create new toolbars to accommodate your style of working.
Step7
Choose the design you will be using from the "Artwork Surfer." Complete the document and save. Click "Save" to keep the documents. You can use these as a saved workspace later.
