Parent Encouragement Program (PEP) parenting classes are a great way for moms and dads to learn better parenting skills and how to guide their children's behavior without fights and punishments. Offered primarily in the greater Washington, D.C. area, PEP parenting classes are available in many formats. There are basic classes as well as specialized topics. Thousands of parents and their kids have benefited from PEP parenting classes. Here is how you can too.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Go to the Parent Encouragement Program (PEP) parenting classes website to learn more about the program. Read about the PEP parenting classes' mission, which is to develop "stronger, more encouraging families, through systematic education, skill training and support."
Step2
Learn about the core PEP parenting classes, named PEP I, II and III, which are geared to specific kids' age groups. Sign up for whichever course best matches your kids' ages; many parents take all three courses over time.
Step3
Attend your PEP parenting classes, reading the material assigned and participating in each class session. Plan to get a babysitter for the kids so both parents can attend if possible. Get the most out of your PEP parenting classes with full participation. Some class activities may be emotional, bringing back your own childhood memories, but are well worth the effort as you will realize the influences of your own parents on your parenting methods.
Step4
Consider signing up for some of the specialized PEP parenting classes, such as "Safe Teen Driving" or "Putting an End to Whining" that meets your family's specific needs or trouble areas.
Step5
Implement the methods and skills learned in your PEP parenting classes with your children and in your family. Continue to go to the PEP parenting classes as you grow in your parental role.
