One of the most beautiful man made lakes from the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam in 1963, Lake Powell is the water and nature lover's resort. Water skiing is especially popular because the water is so calm and there is so much of it. Plan ahead and research your options and you'll have a great water skiing experience.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Stay on a houseboat if you want to stay on the lake and rent a speedboat. If you don't want to stay on a houseboat, for whatever reason, you can rent a boat daily to water ski. Boat owners will find boating supplies and repair facilities abundant in the marinas.
Step2
Find several watercraft rental facilities to compare prices. Depending on the level of quality you want most will have similar prices. The resorts and marinas have almost 300 powerboats on hand for rental but they go fast so make your rental reservation early.
Step3
Plan your water skiing time in advance. Some areas are high traffic and don't allow water skiing so find out where you will get the most skiing in.
Step4
Read the rules and regulations that have traditional maritime rules as well as special tips just for Lake Powell. This is important. An estimated six people a year die from drowning at Lake Powell.
Step5
Hire a captain if water skiing and power boat navigation is new to you. This will be a little pricey but your experience will be well worth it.
