How to Add Glow in the Dark Accent Paint

People who feel that only they can do things the right way are the same people who paint their own cars. If you have the space and the ventilation is good, then give it a try, it should only take about 6 to 7 hours. Precision is the key to car painting. You will need to tape and mix your paints with care, especially doing dark accent work.

Instructions

    • 1

Give your car a good wash with soap and water and towel dry. Dirt removal will make the accent paint adhere properly. The soap needs to have a wax/grease remover in it.

    • 2

Decide which areas you want to accent with paint and mark them carefully. Make sure the area is completely dry before you begin to paint.

    • 3

Spread tape out carefully where you want to accent your car. Newspaper can be used with the tape to ensure that the darker accent paint doesn't get sprayed on the rest of the car surface.

    • 4

Select a paint that you like and apply with a spray gun to ensure even coating. Take a few practice swings with the spray gun to get the paint to flow evenly.

    • 5

Aim the spray gun at the taped accent design and spray evenly with even strokes. After the final coat is applied, let the paint dry for 90 minutes.

    • 6

Seal the accent paint with three clear coats-let each coat dry for 15 minutes before you apply a new one. Let the last coat dry for 90 minutes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you let the paint dry completely before you apply other coats.

  • Do not wax your car before you paint it.
