Customizing a chopper is part of the fun of owning one. There is nothing like cruising down the highway with custom handlebars and other accessories. Another part of the fun is searching through junkyards for used parts. Used parts give a chopper a retro feel. You can manipulate the used parts to make your chopper look weird and stylish.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide where you want to start. Most bikers focus on handlebars before other parts of their chopper.

  2. Step 2

Search old bicycle shops for handle bars. Other chopper parts can be found in these shops as well.

  3. Step 3

Determine if you want to go the route of online sales. Rarely can you find shops online that do not charge shipping and handling.

  4. Step 4

Purchase nothing until you are satisfied that you have exhausted your resources. There is nothing worse than envy for a mate's chopper.

  5. Step 5

Check to see if there is a chopper shop that has spare parts that they want to get rid of since they may also be able to help you with any welding you need done.

  6. Step 6

Read trade magazines and join chopper clubs which can help you enjoy your ride and know where to go for deals on chopper parts.

Tips & Warnings
  • Know what you want before you spend money.
  • Always wear safety equipment when pounding metal and welding.
