How to Create a Photo Org Chart

Both PowerPoint and SmartDraw computer programs can help you create a company org chart that rises above the standard. Photo org charts, displaying a picture of each employee, are often the preferred document to demonstrate an organization's ranking. Not only do these org charts appear more polished, they also serve their purpose better since most people find it easier to remember names when a face has been attached to them.

Instructions

1. Import the photos into the "My Pictures" folder on the computer hard drive. Access the program from the desktop. Open a "Blank Document." Decide on the org chart's structure. Most show a vertical hierarchy of authority.

2. Click on the org chart icon displayed on the file menu or the drawing toolbar. Select the hierarchy format on the dialog box that appears. Click twice on the text box icon on the drawing toolbar and drag two text boxes onto the blank document. Put one box directly over the other.

3. Format the text boxes so that the length of the top is double that of the bottom. Click on the border of the bottom box. Right click and choose "Add Text." Insert the individual's name and title.

4. Choose the top box and then "Insert" from the file menu. Scroll down to "Picture" and choose "From File." The "My Pictures" dialog window opens.

5. Locate the picture desired and highlight it. When the picture appears in the "File Name" field on the dialog window, choose "Insert." The picture is placed on the top text box on the document. Use the corner arrows to resize it to fit squarely within the box. Repeat with all remaining photos.
