If you find that you no longer have a use for an email folder, the ideal solution is to delete that folder. Fortunately, Windows Live Hotmail has made this process painless. Just be careful; don't accidentally dump a folder that has something of import in it. Just follow these easy steps to remove your unwanted folder.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Open your Internet browser and navigate to the Hotmail login page. Login to your mail site. Check the folder that you are going to delete to make sure there isn't any important information in them. Any messages that you want to save in their original form may be transferred to another folder.
Step2
Select "Manage Folders" at the bottom of the list of folders shown on the left-hand side of the window.
Step3
Check the box next to the folder that you want to delete. Go to the top of the message window and select the "X" labeled "Delete."
Step4
Select "OK" when a dialog box opens and confirm that you really want to delete the marked folder.

Tips & Warnings

  • You will have one chance to retrieve your folder and the messages in the folder by going to the Deleted Messages folder. You can open this folder at any time between the time it is deleted by you and when the system deletes the "Deleted Items" folder.
  • When you delete a Hotmail folder, all messages in that folder move to your "Deleted Messages" folder by default.
