How to Convince Parents to Buy a Horse
Convincing your parents to buy you a horse can be a very hard thing to do. Parents are not always being mean when they tell their children no, but they must take many things into consideration before making such a huge commitment. If you think it is possible to convince your parents to purchase a horse, here are a few steps you should follow.

1
Determine the reason you actually want the horse. Do you want to start showing him? Riding him for pleasure? Barrel racing? It is important you decide this before asking your parents for a horse because they will probably ask you the same question.

2
Decide what kind of horse you want. Do as much research as you can on that particular type of horse. Present this information to your parents when you ask them. Include the range of prices for this particular horse as well. If they see you are serious about this horse, maybe they will grant your wish.

Consider all aspects of taking care of the horse. You need to consider the cost of boarding him if you have nowhere to place him, deworming treatments, vaccinations, teeth care, shoe and foot trimmings, and any lessons you intend to take. If you have a money flow coming in, you may consider offering to pay for some of these expenses.

4
Ask a friend of family member if you can ride and spend some time with their horses. Experience with horses makes the process of owning one much easier. You may decide that you do not want to go to the trouble of owning a horse. They are beautiful animals and fun if you have experience, but they are also a lot of work.

5
Present your idea to your parents. Prepare yourself for whatever your parents decide. Maybe they feel you are not ready for that responsibility, or maybe they just do not have the financial abilities to purchase a horse right now. If the answer is no, do not lose your dream. Continue to work with horses voluntarily. Your opportunity will come along.
