California has gained worldwide notoriety for its wines. There are many vineyards in the Santa Barbara area, which is a wonderful place for the wine connoisseur or just someone who appreciates beautiful scenery. Visiting Santa Barbara wine country can lead to an unforgettable experience.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a place to stay. The Santa Barbara area has many wonderful hotels and inns that offer packages and specials. The Hotel Mar Monte offers a Waves and Wine package that includes a 2-night stay, a gourmet lunch and wine tour of 3 different wineries. The Santa Ynez Valley Marriott has a Vintner's Escape package with an overnight stay, a complimentary bottle of wine, passes to wine tastings at local wineries and a breakfast the next morning for two.

  2. Step 2

Take a tour of a winery or two. Most tours are under $10 per person. Select a winery that makes a personal favorite or ask at the hotel front desk for helpful suggestions. Almost every winery in the Santa Barbara area has an email address should any questions about tour times and prices arise.

  3. Step 3

Get in some sightseeing. The Santa Barbara area is picturesque and there are quite a few sightseeing companies in the area, like Santa Barbara Adventure Company and Santa Barbara Limousine. Go it alone and rent a bicycle from Cycles 4 Rent, Inc., or see things from a different perspective with a hot-air balloon ride.

  4. Step 4

Eat a delicious meal. Santa Barbara wine country has so many restaurants to choose from, from Mediterranean cuisine at Fresco at the Santa Barbara Inn to Italian food at Bucatini or Palatzzio to seafood at the Crabby Lobster.

  5. Step 5

Spoil yourself at one of the spas in the area. The Bacara Resort and Spa is one such place that offers a variety of spa treatments.
