How to Make a Tree Costume. Trees can be spooky around Halloween. Trees can also be an important part in a school play. Whether you need to make a tree costume for Halloween or a school play, you can do it easily. All you need is a little creativity and some time.
Step 1
Get all your materials together. This article gives some different suggestions for materials. You can choose these or come up with your own. You can even use real leaves to make your tree costume. Be creative.

Step 2
Take one paper bag and make the part of the trunk that will cover your shoulders and upper body. If you are making this costume for a child, you may only need to cut holes for the arms and head. If you are making this tree costume for an adult, you will probably need to cut away the bottom of two bags. Use glue to connect the two bags together to form a tube big enough to fit the adult. Cut away holes for the arms.
Step 3
Make your tree trunk long enough to cover the body and feet. Cut away the bottoms of other paper bags, and then cut the bag from top to bottom. Glue one short side of each paper to the bottom of upper trunk. Continue gluing open paper bags around the top of the trunk. This will make a skirt that will be easy to move in.
Step 4
Decorate your tree trunk. You can do this by drawing vertical lines to make the tree bark. You can use the black marker to make an animal hole in your tree. If this is a Halloween costume, you can draw a scary face on the tree trunk.
Step 5
Add leaves. Cut leaves out of felt or use plastic leaves from a craft store. Glue the leaves to the shoulders, arms and chest. Now you've made a tree costume for Halloween.
Tip
Get a brown, hooded sweatshirt, and you won't need to bother using paper bags to make your tree trunk. If you think you need more leaves, you can always glue more leaves to the top of the hat.
