How to Clean a Ceramic Stovetop
A ceramic stovetop is an attractive alternative to its predecessor, but it does present new challenges when you clean. With proper and consistent care, however, it is very easy to maintain. Here are a few helpful tips to help you have a clean ceramic stovetop. Does this Spark an idea?

- Commercial ceramic stovetop cleaner
- Paper towels
- Soft cloth
- Razor scraper

Clean the stovetop after each use with a commercial ceramic cooktop cleaner. Allow the cooktop to cool completely and spread with a thin layer of cleaner. Rub vigorously with a paper towel. Change to a clean towel as one becomes soiled. When residue is gone polish with a dry soft cloth.

Remove spillovers as soon as top is cool enough. For burned on areas use a razor blade scraper designed specifically for this purpose. Hold the blade at a 45-degree angle to avoid scratching and slide gently over the surface. Apply a layer of cleanser and rub with a paper towel to remove remaining stain.

Polish away any discoloration left from aluminum or copper pans that are allowed to boil dry before using the stovetop again. Re-heating with these stains intact may cause permanent damage.

Check the bottom of pots and pans periodically for nicks and gouges. These can cause marks on the ceramic. Remove the marks as soon as possible for best results.

Tips & Warnings
Note that cleaning the cooktop often is the key to success. The more the residue accumulates the harder it is to remove.
Keep plastic away from a hot stovetop. It melts,then hardens and usually cannot be removed at which point the top has to be replaced.
Don't slide pots and pans across the cooktop surface. This causes scratches that can't always be removed by polishing.
