Instructions

    • 1

Purchase tickets to visit Kensington Palace. They can be purchased at the door. You will be given a audio speaker that you can listen to, rather than having a tour guide. It's better because you can tour the castle at your own pace and listen to the audio as often as you like.

    • 2

Visit the State apartments. Although some of the palace is off limits to the public, the state apartments are open to all. You will find fine art and artifacts from the Royal Collection displayed here.

    • 3

View the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection. You will see the fashions of the formal court dress for the last two centuries. This tells a story in itself. Don't forget to listen to your speaker, she will give you tons of information.

    • 4

Go to the gift shop. This has recently been redone and carries such items as jewelry, china, crystals as well as souvenirs. You always need to see what you can purchase to remember your trip.

    • 5

Take in the beauty of the gardens. There is a lot of history in this garden. See the sunken garden and lily pond that Edward VII designed in 1907. You can also visit the Diana Memorial Playground. Finally don't miss Queen Victoria's marble-fountained Italian garden, which overlooks Long Water. You can see the Peter Pan statue from here.

    • 6

Have tea or lunch at the Orangery restaurant. This is the place where Queen Anne liked to have lunch with her friends.

    • 7

Allow plenty of time for your visit to Kensington Palace. There is a lot of history there and you wouldn't want to miss a thing.
