Things You'll Need:
- Tickets
- Walking shoes
- Appetite
-
Step 1
Book a tour any day except December 24, 25 and January 1. There is only one time for the tour each day, so if you are only going to be in London for a day or two, try to arrange your schedule so you can take it.
-
Step 2
Make sure you are dressed appropriately. This tour has a bus and a walking tour. It can be chilly in London at night so you need to make sure you are going to be warm enough and you need to have good walking shoes.
-
Step 3
Show up on time. Although there are several tour guides, they all start at the same time because of the nature of the tour. It must be start at 6 o'clock because the walking tour needs to be done in the dark to get the right feeling for the tour.
-
Step 4
Enjoy the ride. The bus ride takes you through the darkest part of London, including Old Bailey, the Royal London Hospital and the Wallace Plaque. You will also hear stories of numerous public hangings, the Elephant man and Braveheart. You may be given the Jack the Ripper story to read before the walking tour.
-
Step 5
Walk in the steps of Jack the Ripper. You will be able to inspect the sites where the murders took place. There were at least five victims. Depending on your tour guide, they may add one or two more that were possibly victims of Jack the Ripper. These have not been documented. Your guide may also offer theories of who Jack the Ripper was--after listening to it all, form your own conclusions.
-
Step 6
Take the Terror cruise. Taking a cruise on the River Thames in the dark and listening to stories about the KGB murders and suspicious suicides changes your impressions of the cruise you took earlier that day.
-
Step 7
Bring your appetite. Some of the tours include eating an authentic fish and chips supper at the Sherlock Holmes Pub.
