How to Find a Secluded Beach

Whether you want a romantic spot or just a quiet getaway, a secluded beach can offer you crowd free sand and plenty of space to soak up the sun or catch a wave. In many cases, locals will be your best source of information for where to find a beach without the crowds, although you can find one from other sources as well.

1. Rent or buy your own private island. If you've got the money, try spending a week or month on your own private island where all the beaches will be yours to enjoy. Some luxury resorts also have private beaches with few people so this can be another option.

2. Ask the locals in the area where you want to visit about secluded beaches. You may need to ask a few different people in order to get the information if the beaches are closely guarded secrets. Generally, though, you can get information about quieter beaches if you ask around.

3. Post a question about finding a secluded beach on a few travel forums or local forums for the area that you're going to. You can often get great information this way about beaches as well as other attractions nearby. You may have to register in order to post a question about a secluded beach.

4. Head to the beach on a questionable weather day. If you don't mind "bad" weather at the beach, you may have it all to yourself. In most cases, beaches will be busiest on warm, sunny days so colder or cloudy days can give you a better chance of finding a beach without the crowd.

5. Take a drive or bike along the coastline. You may spot a public beach that remains secluded. If you have time to scout out locations, check back on the beaches that look promising over a period of time and you'll often discover when it's secluded.

6. Try a weekday on a beach near smaller towns. You'll have better luck at finding a secluded beach when the population is less and most of it is working.
